On our way up we stopped at Sunset Point to use the rest stop and enjoy the scenery:
Then we drove into Prescott to see what there was to do. We found (what we thought was) a cute little thrift shop. It turned out to be a little on the scary side. It was more like a ceiling high garage sale:
After our stop we hit up lunch at Burger King, they now give out crowns with all kids meals:
Then we stopped at a water place and picked up ice cream. While we were there we found out that Prescott has a minor league hockey team and an arena football team. We headed over to the arena to find out a little more. We ended up buying tickets to the football game for the next night and hockey tickets for the next week. More on that in day 5.....
After that funness we hit the 89A. This was the worst part of the trip for me. The road is so winding and narrow that I didn't let go of the door handle the whole way down. When we hit Jerome It was even worse because of the constant stream of pedestrians. We made it through the mountains fine and headed in to Sedona. We checked into our hotel and were pleasantly surprised with the size of our hotel room. We had a one bedroom suite with a full kitchen:
We got to relax there for a little bit before heading to the Hyers house for dinner. The kids didn't know that we were going to visit them, and they were so excited to see everyone. We hung out for a long time and enjoyed great weather and great company, and some great burgers courtesy of Phil. I wish that I had gotten some pictures of the kids with them, but we were all enjoying ourselves too much to stop for pictures.
